Nautical First Attempt - Palesa Mahlaba

Hey guys!!!

Enjoying your Saturday so far??? Mine has been decent - I even had time for thrifting some accessories :)

As I promised from my previous posts - this is one of the posts that have delayed being posted. This specific post was an attempt to recreate Palesa Mahlaba's Outfit (True Love Magazine Editor) which I tried out with another dress here!!!!

I love the nautical or sailor inspired looks and I think ill be rocking them mostly this summer. As a plus size woman I think both my efforts are awesome and highly current and trendy. Yes, I love and believe in my style. Its fun, edgy, eclectic, quirky and super modern at times and vintagy!!! I am a mix of everything depending on my mood of cause :) Enough already about my style, lol!!!

Dig in folks and go nautical crazy this summer :)

Mod meets Gingham

Good Evening Friends!!!

Hope your Wednesday was alright wherever you are, mine was cold and busy!

When posting my sweatpants pictures this morning I noticed I have about 5 outfit that I still need to post from my red braids hairstyle. So, throughout this week I will ensure I post them everyday. So we can focus on outfits with my current hairstyle. This is the first of them!

It is what I say MOD meets GINGHAM - what other caption can one come up with??? This is one of those special outfits where I mix thrifted items with contemporary pieces and just get an updated vintage outfit. Love it!!!

What are your thoughts? What is your latest find from the thrift???

OOTD: Nautical Sunday

Hello my Fab Sista's

Last Sunday I came across Palesa's Outfit on Instagram and instantly fell inlove. I instantly challenged myself to replicate her look. I even left a comment on her IG that I'll give it a go.

On Monday when going to work the weather was cold and raining so I managed to replicate this outfit as I was eager to try it out but could only take pictures inside my office. At the end of the day, I was unsatisfied with the quality of my pictures and the dress I wore was a bit longer - my goal was really not achieved on this day.

I told myself I am not resting until I get this challenge right. Today, I think I got it right even though I am not wearing big blocked striped dress same as hers - for me: this is MISSION ACCOMPLISHED kinda moment :)

The message I am trying to relay on this post is that all of us need to be inspired by each other, NO MATTER THE SIZE. Plus Size ladies need to stop being negative and bitter when seeing a normally sized individual killing it on the streets instead lets be inspired to try things out and see how far we can go challenging ourselves to getting closer to the outfit of inspiration.

The truth is that we can never look the same as the people who inspire us but can look better FOR US because the challenge is for us, by us and about us #nopressurePLEASE :) We are all beautiful!!!

Palesa looks amazing on this nautically inspired outfit and OFCOZ, so is myself :) I feel satisfied with what I did for this challenge. I got inspired and I brought in my own flavour :)

What do you think???

PALESA MAHLABA: True Love Magazine Fashion Editor - I love this woman so much and her fashion style is on another level. Check her out on her Instagram Account to see what she is all about. Click here.

FATNESS SWAG

Hey guys,

Hope you all enjoying your weekend. Just wanna share with you my todays outfit and live you with this message. Accepting and loving ones self is very much vital because it gives you satisfaction and peace of mind: ALWAYS!!! This applies to everyone: THICK or THIN

There's always rules, perceptions and attitudes towards what FAT PEOPLE must or must not wear and that upsets me because why cant we be given freedom of wearing what we feel like and just be accepted as we are instead of being trapped in a box. We are as smart and creative like everyone else breathing in this planet. Why are we treated as if we are just dumb souls who cant make sensible decisions concerning our wardrobes? Who doesn't know that they should look a certain way when in different situations??? Whats more upsetting is the fact that we have limited options and yet have to be told what to do as if things that are being suggested are always within reach. I struggle finding clothes and getting someone telling me what not to wear is just devastating.

As a result of all this: We FAT people are expected to look a certain way and if we are non compliant to this then we are regarded TRASHY. Well, you can call me trashy as much as you want - if I feel good and see myself looking great when looking at my mirror - the rest is history. Ofcoz, I would never get out of my house not ensuring I look decent. When people see me around the streets they give me some stares *which I love* :) because many fat people are less confident to spice up their looks to their satisfaction and this is due to media and society that have prisoned them in a boring box. ME on the other side I REFUSE to fall into that trap because I love dressing up. I look around the world of fashion and get inspired to wear what I feel like because is not a crime to do so.

I hope this post inspires many FAT WOMEN out there to break the chain of imprisonment and liberate themselves into a great world of style and fashion without doubts and regrets for exploring looks that they have been aspiring to wear.

This is me TODAY and I am LOVING MY OUTFIT :)

I haven't worn pants for more than 8 years now because I hated how I looked because I am fat - right now, I am all grown up and understand even though I am fat and struggling to lose this weight I am allowed to wear what I like when I need to: REGARDLESS of my weight. Whilst figuring my way on how to lose this weight, I must not punish myself and not live and lead a positive life I need for myself because not everything is about how much I weigh. So, I am embracing me as I am and people like GarnerStyle, KellieB, the_ms_supa_thickk and others are great examples for many women in my position to do themselves at all times.

What are you scared of wearing in public??? When do you think you'll free yourself? Think about that :)
