Curves Around The World: About Me!!!

Dear friends!

It’s been a very long while since we last spoke. Things are looking bright, it is a brand new year...

Me and my mates from curves around the world (Kate, Aislynn, Nina, Olivia and Jen) decided to scout for new additional members for our group and we were lucky to get Elizabeth McGraw McGuffin of withwonderandwhimsy and Stephanie Pasche of dressitcurvy.
Since we have new members we decided to start afresh and introduce ourselves to you. That is the focus of this post today. It is meant to remind those who have been following us from a while back and allow new people who might come across this post and be potential followers moving forward to know who we really are and what we stand for.
I am Thulisa Lisa Mkhencele. I am 31years of age. I am black, beautiful and I am a Plus Sized lady. I am a health professional, an Epidemiologist for the National Institute of Communicable Disease in Johannesburg, South Africa.

I love myself very much. Also dressing up and being stylish even though I am a Plus Size lady gives me life and I strive for it. Yes being stylish is for everyone. Style is not usually associated with Plus Sized women but I am happy to say this day there is recognition given although it is minimal but it is there.
Before I stray,  let me also mention that I am an advocate for Healthy lifestyle. As much as I have said I am fat,  I do take good care of my health by eating healthy and exercise at least 3 – 4 times a week. I have been very lazy lately but I just have started a week ago again. Things are not easy, I must say. I will post some of the recipes and exercise videos/pictures of my workouts whenever I can – wait and see! There is more coming your way this year :)
If I may describe my style in few words I would say: Vintage Inspired, Androgynous and Eccentric. That is what you will get from my direction every time you visit my page or if you look at my previous outfit posts. I started blogging after being inspired by Chastity “GarnerStyle” and Lydia “StyleIsStyle”. I understood the importance of sharing personal positive life experiences because they both affected me and I needed to do the same for others.

Also, when I started plus size blogging in 2012 – I knew no one in South Africa who was a plus size blogger and who was sharing their life in social networks to inspire others and I needed to be the first one and I did make a mark regarding this: best decision ever!!!
I am just a simple lady, full of life and ready to make new friends – so, please stick around and give feedback as honest as you can – this will really assist in me writing about things that are of interest to both of us. Expect posts every Monday!!! Keep well.

Curves Around The World: Royal Blue

Hey, Guys!!!

Its that time of the week for Curves Around the World themed outfits - I hope you are ready for this weeks theme ROYAL BLUE!!!

This colour is a new black currently from all over the world. Everywhere when you turn your head, there is a royal blue worn. Last Year I have created some royal blue outfits and I have included some of them below for you to see how I have rocked them.

For this post I decided to wear a thrifted dress with some accents of royal blue instead of going all out.

For this look, I took the pictures when it started raining outside and I completely enjoyed the moment even though I was worried that my phone would get wet.  Thank God, nothing happened: Ntembi did magic to avoid that from occuring.

Are you a lover of Royal Blue just like me? What colours do you like mixing it with? I love mixing with other lighter blues. I love my previous looks as well as the one im posting tonight. Your views on them please :)

Curves Around The World: Timeless

Hey, guys!!!

Finally I am able to write this post, wheeeuuww......

This weeks theme for Curves Around The World is Timeless. What pops on my mind when I hear this are pearls, black dress, lace, heels, red lips, denim, effortless look etc. I also think of classic outfits.

I am posting late because I travelled to Jo'burg on Wednesday this week for an interview on Thursday. Attending this interview was an opportunity to wear a classy outfit that relates to our theme.

Whilst waiting to be called in - my friend Pumla took few pictures of my outfit in the NICD foyer. I think I was dressed nicely for this interview and the weather was pleasant too.

I love timeless looks - I think I do them best especially with my casual wear. Yes, casual can be timeless too. Think about demin pieces, converse high tops, white vest, leggings etc... it all depends on how you ensemble the entire outfit.

What are your views for my timeless outfit???

Curves Around The World: Collars

Good Evening, guys :)

Its Curves Around The World time  and this time around we are rocking them COLLARS, lol!!!

I really wanted to wear a shirt for this challenge as I don't wear enough of them due to not being comfortable wearing them most of the time.

Would have really loved to rock that closed up Collared Shirt with a statement neckpiece look - I didn't, I guess I need to really push myself next time. I just have issues with too much serious looks and collared clothing brings that for me. I may be paranoid but I think, its so not me .... I am all about comfort first and then being stylish within my Smart Casual Style.

It may sound as if I hate collars but in actual fact I really do love them in Jackets, though and shirt dresses. For this challenge my Collar comes from the denim vest.

The weather is still hot and all I wear currently are Maxi Dresses and more maxi dresses. This time around its no different, I rocked my Maxi at work on Friday with my collared vest and sandals and I honestly think its a winning outfit :)

Do you love collars and rock them often??? In what form do you like them?
