THRIFT QUEEN

 Good Afternoon, guys!!!

I am excited about this post because it is one of those that stop people from the streets to look and admire me for my excellent sense of style. I don't call myself Thrift Queen for nothing, I am the Thrift Queen and I live by that as I strut the streets showing off my awesome vintage finds.

This is one of those posts that delayed to be posted on time. Hope you appreciate this outfit as much as I did wearing it. I like the fact that I mostly look different than anyone walking up and down the streets - thick or not!!! And my style is tasteful too because I upgrade my vintage items by adding some contemporary pieces so that I don't scare people by looking like a freak.

This dress is gonna be my go to this summer: don't be shocked when I repeatedly post pictures in it in future!

The Thrift Queen lives on :)

Curves Around The World - Steal Her Style

Good Morning, fabulous friends!!!

Curves Around the World is formed by a group of 5 ladies located all over the world. We do themed outfits every week and we are all plus sized sisters celebrating our fabulous curves.

For this week, we thought it would be nice to steal each others style for change and see what one comes up with. So, this weeks theme is STEAL HER STYLE!!!

I am stealing Aislynn's Style this week. She is from Denmark. According to me - Aisylnn's Style is Glam, Classy, Simple and Chic. Her looks always have clean lines and she is a lover of accessories (neckpieces and bracelets) but she goes for the understated pieces that definately catch your eye. She does wear color (I have seen her in RED and in GREEN) and looks gorgeous in them. My choice of dress came from her love of colour and accessories came from her great eye & taste for jewellery!!!

My translation of her style has been challenging because I go all out most of the time but it has been fun to attempt her style. I did not take a specific outfit she wore and replicate it - what I did is try to feature most of the elements of her style in this outfit. I hope you see her style in my outfit.

I wore this outfit to a wedding last weekend and had a blast showing it off. I hope my inspiration of her style translated well and yes, please check her style here to decide if I have done a great job or not.

Curves Around The World: Week 7 - Denim

Good morning, gorgeous ladies!!!

As the group of Curves Around The World we are hitting week 7 this week - yey!!! Ever since we have started it has been a jolly ride working with my fab lady friends from around the globe. This experience means a lot to me as a blogger and as just being me - it is really such an honour being part of Curves Around The World group representing my country and myself as an advocate for plus size and also showcasing how size is no excuse not to look fab at all times.

I am bigger than the rest of my group mates but that doesn't intimidate me at all because I am me and I am 120% comfortable in my own skin. I like the fact that I represent a group of females who are wearing size 22 and beyond as you don't normally get many bloggers representing this group especially in South Africa. This might be because people can be very cruel and rude instead of accepting and motivating whoever comes to the picture to do the right thing for the benefit of all in our countries.

So many women are so lost as to what to wear or not as we have limited options for plus sized women as a result you will find these women wearing ill fitting clothes because of being able to access what is available on the market.

I am here standing tall just to represent all women in similar situations in the hope that they will get inspired and see that we can always look normal and beautiful with cheap playful clothes that we can buy from available retailers and also show that we can tailor clothes to our satisfaction to spice things up with our ensembles.

I am young and obviously struggling with my weight: so what??? Really, so what??? Should I be miserable at home and wear less appetising items made for plus sized grown up when ever I go out or go to work - Hell NO ... I refuse to do that. I did not gain this weight over night and therefore wont lose it over night either - besides I am losing weight for me not for the world. So, when I slip and not continue with my program as I am supposed to - that should be understandable because I AM HUMAN .... So, don't judge me!!!

This post is about this weeks fab theme: DENIM. My outfit is inspired by the Americana Trend going on here in South Africa and a post by EatStylePlay recent post. I wore this outfit on a Sunday afternoon after coming from the church meetings. I felt great and looked the part too, I know because compliments kept coming my way :)

I bought the skirt I am wearing many years ago and just decided to recycle it to a mini skirt coz it used to be a knee length. I don't often wear my Dr Martens because of the nature of my job and during weekends I always have plenty of other things to try out especially things I get from the thrift.

I have many pairs of Dr Martens that I bought from DrMartensUSA-Store and also bought one pair in Asos. Wearing these USA online Store bought Shiraz Buttero docs made my day because they are so comfy and so on trend in the world - everyone envy me especially for this oxblood colour :)

The message I am sending with this post is that. I love me very much and if its weekend I let loose, what can I do really??? I am young and my fabulosity needs to shine all the time weekend or weekday... I am happy I am not an uptight all serious person because I get to enjoy what life offers me without hesitation.

I would advise that - you must challenge yourself and wear something you would never wear in any day but secretly have been wishing you could. This exercise is so fulfilling and brings peace to yourself because you are doing this for yourself and in the process would notice that people don't give a hoot as to what you wear or don't as they are also busy carrying on with their lives.

I am a sucker for challenges but the biggest I cant beat so far is my weight loss challenge!!! I love this challenge though,,,, because it is teaching me all the things other challenges I come across don't. From it, I get to learn about self discipline, self love and worthiness, being patient & focussed, cheering my own self towards success, a believer and mostly faith... What other challenge would beat this really???

To those who are regular visitors - when you hear DENIM theme: what did you think my outfit would be??? To new visitors, do you think I have knocked out this denim themed outfit???

Thank you for reading.

A message from you would be highly appreciated and yes, please remember following me on bloglovin :)

Curves Around The World: Week 6 - Colour Blocking

Good Morning, fabulous fashionistas!!!

You all know that, it is that time of the week for "The Themed Outfits" with my beautiful lady friends who are from all over the world. I must say I am happy I came across these girls in the bloggerville world. I am really loving these themed outfit exercises as they really challenge me and it feels good when I succeed doing them.

This weeks theme is COLOUR BLOCKING and by far it is the most that has really challenged me as I never tried the trend before. I really tried my best so you need to cut me some slack and forgive all discrepancy identified.

At first I thought id do royal blue and yellow but I recently had posted an outfit with yellow accents and it felt wrong to be using the same colours for this theme. Pink came to my rescue.

I wore this outfit to work on Monday and it got highly windy and very cold after taking these pictures. Thank god my mink jacket saved me. My hat is a recent purchase from Alwal North Foschini. Got it from the sale rack...it sold for R199.00 and I got it for R120.00. So, I just had to wear it this day although weather did not approve. I cared less, I just needed to wear it. You know when you have bought something new - you get excited and itch to wear it #that's how I felt: the wind was never gonna stop me at all, lol.

Please enjoy this post cause I really made an effort putting everything together. Taking these pictures was really fun as I jumped around posing. I must say I love the pictures, they are a great translation of how I was that day. I really thank my colleague Ntembi for being patient with me even when the weather sucked.  She really is an awesome photographer - am lucky to have her :)

The only principle I know about colour blocking is that, one should not use more than 3 colours when putting together a colour blockin outfit. So, I used royal blue, plum and pink - I did pretty good, I think - the colour mix well. What is your opinion?

"The wind really punished me on many of these pics - please excuse some"

H by Hudson Grafton Boots and Gonkolo HairStyle

Hey Fabulous Ladies!!!
Hope you had a fab week so far and are ready to celebrate the Human Rights Day tomorrow. Now that, is a break I have been waiting for cause I'm tired and definately looking forward enjoying having my "ME.ME.ME.ME.Time" Whats upseting though is that I, actually WE as Department of Health employees are working on Friday and are not having a long weekend like other employees from the Department of Education and Municipal employees. Why are we so unlucky :( I could do alot from tomorrow until Sunday, really of coz if I was given the long weekend!!!Really, who decides about these things??
Ok, enough about my moaning!!! Last Sunday after coming from my church meeting, I decided to go to the salon to get my mohawk braided. I have been looking forward getting my fringed braids :) It was really overdue.
Unfortunately, my hairstylist was out of reach because I spent my weekeend in Matatiele and was going back to Fletchie on monday morning. It was a must for me to get my hair done on Sunday because when the week starts it is hard to squeeze in salon appointments as we are super busy at work lately.
Thank God, my friend Zoe has a wonderful HouseManager who is highly skilled with hair. So, she hooked me up with my Fringed Braids. They were super tight and painful on the first day ... so much that I had to take pain pills to help me.
Monday came and I broke necks honey!!! Everyone could not help themselves but were forced to just look and appreciate my Wonderful HairStyle. It is unfortunate that I had no time to take pics. So, Tuesday was chilly and I had to warm myself up.
My inspiration for the day came from my recent purchase at Zandos "H by Hudson - Black Grafton Boots" - So, I decided to just go monochrome for the day. I really loved this outfit. Moreover, my Grafton Boots because I saw them by chance at Zando's website. I desparately wanted a pair last year 2012 and could not get the size from all websites and shops in Australia. I really gaveup on this shoe after many months of searching. They are really God sent. On this day it was their second wear. They are antique, comfortable, leather everything except lacies and a perfect height.
I bought these boots for winter and Id be pleased to hear your advice on how else I could wear these Vintage inspired boots.
